Cerro Tronador y Ventisquero Negro

Cerro Tronador y Ventisquero Negro

Visit the Park's "giant" and its imposing glaciers
The excursion starts at San Carlos de Bariloche downtown. On the way to Cerro Tronador you can see Gutierrez and Mascardi lakes. The first stop is at the park ranger station, where you pay the fee. You will enjoy the incredible experience of being in the heart of the mythical Andes. Cerro Tronador is the highest mountain within the Nahuel Huapi National Park, 3478 metres high, unfolds at its feet an impressive glacier tongue covered by volcanic ashes, which gives the ice its particular black colour. When we arrive to Pampa Linda, there is a mandatory stop for lunch. Waterfalls and springs are the delight of those who arrive here. Towards the end of the road we arrive at the foot of the highest mountain in the National Park, characterised by the sound produced by the breaking and detachment of the glaciers on its summits. From this point we can see the Río Manso Glacier, commonly known as "Ventisquero Negro", thus reaching the end of the route.
